But if you can’t think of one master brand campaign that used storytelling to market the vast array of Coca-Cola products all together, it’s because it’s never before existed. Until now…
Co-created with auteur Kenya Barris, “Westside’s Finest” is a tale of family, community, the passage of time, the things that change, and the things that stay the same. It stars some of Hollywood’s biggest names, showcases a half century of Coke’s most beloved products (18 in total), pays homage to legendary Black filmmakers, and above all, reminds us that in the face of accelerated change, you can count on your favorite Coca-Cola beverages to be there for you when you need them. Then, now, and always.
“Westside’s Finest” harnesses the power of branded entertainment to transform product placement into a compelling narrative, making the Coke lineup of beverages feel as integral to life’s journey as the memories they accompany. It’s a story that Coke and only Coke could tell. Moreover, it’s everything portfolio marketing isn’t supposed to be.
BET was so impressed by the film, they agreed to run it in full on television at no cost to Coca-Cola. They also added it to BET+, where it lives not as marketing but as entertainment, alongside other Kenya Barris classics.
